This is not good bye!

It is amazing how fast years fly by! I still vividly recall my first overnight shift close to 12 years ago. Of course and how it usually happens house was really alive that night and I had receive one of the most difficult hotline call that lasted almost all night. Believe me, a possibility of running away crossed my mind several times throughout the night but again I did not. In retrospect, I consider this night as a crucial night that helped me decided to stay at WHBW for over a decade.

So here we are at the end of my professional tenure at WHBW and I have been going down memory lane trying to capture names, faces and stories of hundreds of women and children I encountered here. I hope they know how grateful I am for everything they have taught me and how honored I am to have had privileged to be empowered by them to do this amazing work.

Simultaneously, I think of all of you and cannot express my endless gratitude for an opportunity to work alongside so many amazing people who have raised their voices against violence against women. The legacy we have inherited from our foremothers and the one we will leave for future generations is beyond noble and even though I am leaving WHBW I am not leaving the movement as there is much to be done in this fight for human rights and freedom for all.

I thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for survivors of domestic violence and I am sure that I will hear many great things about WHBW in years to come.

Respectfully, Anera Fočo
