Old Cell Phones Needed
Collect cell phones with your work, school, or community group to help end domestic violence!
Looking for a way to get rid of some clutter? Are you a teen that needs a community service project? Why not organize an old cell phone drive? It can be as simple as one email and setting up a collection box in a public area. Proceeds from the collection effort will help in providing emergency services to women and children whose lives have been affected by domestic abuse.
For the past 10 years, people in our community have helped raise over $16,000 for WHBW just by dropping off cell phone donations. We send them to Shelter Alliance and they recycle old or even broken cell phones, ipads, and ipods in support of domestic violence shelters. Shelter Alliance sends us an itemized list of what your donations were worth. We recently received $61.00 for a broken Blackberry! A few of the phones are reprogrammed as emergency 911 phones and are handed out to our service users as well.
Donations can be dropped off Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at our public offices located at 294 N. Winooski Ave in Burlington.
